Vietnam stretches 1,650 km from north to south — which means different regions have very different weather patterns. There is no single "best time" for all of Vietnam. Here is the region-by-region breakdown.
North Vietnam (Hanoi, Ha Long, Sapa)
- October–April: Best time. Cool, dry. Ha Long Bay is calm and beautiful. Sapa is misty and photogenic.
- September–October: Golden hour for Sapa rice terraces (harvest season). Stunning photos.
- May–September: Hot and rainy. Ha Long can get rough seas. Avoid if possible.
Central Vietnam (Hoi An, Hue, Da Nang)
- February–May: Dry and warm. Perfect beach weather at Da Nang.
- October–November: Rainy season. Hoi An floods occasionally.
South Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc, Mekong Delta)
- November–April: Dry season. Phu Quoc is crystal clear.
- May–October: Rainy season but short showers, still manageable for city tours.

- December–January: Peak season, book early. Perfect weather everywhere.
- October: Shoulder season, great value. Golden rice terraces in Sapa.
- March–April: Excellent for central and south Vietnam.
